There’s a new fluffy face here at G’s Homestead—say hello to Nutmeg, our sweet Rex buck! At just 7 weeks old, he’s the tiniest (and softest) member of the crew, and already full of curiosity and charm.
Nutmeg is a Rex rabbit, a breed my husband absolutely loves—and it’s easy to see why. Their velvety-soft coats, calm personalities, and gentle nature make them such a special addition to any homestead. Even though I’ve never personally raised a rabbit before, I’m already smitten and so excited for the journey ahead.
We’re also in the process of building Nutmeg a more permanent home, but in the meantime, he’s staying in a cage we secured with some old duck coop hardware cloth. It’s not the dream setup just yet, but he’s safe, cozy, and we’re making sure he has everything he needs while we get his forever home ready.
Since he’s still a baby, we’re holding off on the fresh greens for now, but you can bet he’ll be spoiled with goodies and treats as soon as he’s ready. For now, we’re focused on making him feel safe, loved, and totally at home.
It’s amazing how quickly these little animals settle into your heart. We can’t wait to watch Nutmeg grow and see all the joy he’ll bring to our family.
