My Go-To Refreshing Drinks for Hot Days (Homestead Edition)

It’s been a little quiet around here lately, and honestly… I just needed to take a step back for a bit.

Life has been full in all the ways… homestead things, mom life, trying to keep up with everything (and sometimes not keeping up at all 😅). But I’ve really missed being on here and sharing these little pieces of our life with you.

So I’m easing back into it with something simple and very “right now” for this season.

When the weather starts warming up, one of my favorite little routines on the homestead is making something cold, refreshing, and homemade to sip on throughout the day.

There’s just something about a glass jar filled with ice, fresh ingredients, and a drink you made yourself that hits different, especially after being outside tending to animals, chasing little ones, or attempting to keep a garden alive (😅).

These are my go-to refreshing drinks that I keep coming back to every spring and summer. They’re simple, made with real ingredients, and easy to throw together even on busy days.

🍋 Lavender Blueberry Lemonade

This one feels a little fancy, but it’s honestly so easy—and it tastes like something you’d get at a cute café.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice (fresh is best!)
  • 3–4 cups water
  • 2–3 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1–2 tbsp lavender syrup

How to make it:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the blueberries with about 1/2 cup of water over medium heat.
  2. Gently mash them as they warm up, letting them simmer for about 5–7 minutes until juicy.
  3. Strain the mixture into a bowl or jar to remove the skins (or leave them if you like it rustic!).
  4. In a pitcher, combine the blueberry liquid, lemon juice, and remaining water.
  5. Stir in honey (or sugar) until dissolved.
  6. Add the lavender syrup and mix well.
  7. Pour over ice and enjoy!

Tip: Taste as you go—add more honey if you like it sweeter or more lemon for extra tang 🍋

🧊 Fruit-Infused Water (The “Homestead Mom Survival Drink”)

This can be an everyday, always-have-it drink.

What you’ll need:

  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2–1 cup fresh fruit (your choice)
  • Optional: a handful of fresh herbs

How to make it:

  1. Add your fruit (and herbs if using) to a large jar or pitcher.
  2. Lightly press or mash the fruit to release some flavor.
  3. Fill with water and let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes (longer = more flavor).
  4. Pour over ice and refill the water as needed throughout the day.

Combinations I love:

  • Strawberry + lemon
  • Cucumber + mint
  • Orange + blueberry

Why I love it:
It helps me stay hydrated without getting bored of plain water, and it makes me feel like I have my life together… even when I definitely don’t.

☕ Iced Samoa Mocha (My Little Treat)

If you know, you know—this is my current obsession.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 shot espresso (or 1/2 cup strong coffee)
  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • 1–2 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 1–2 tbsp coconut syrup
  • Ice

How to make it:

  1. Brew your espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
  2. Fill a glass with ice (mason jars just make it better 😉).
  3. Pour the chocolate syrup and coconut syrup over the ice.
  4. Add the espresso/coffee.
  5. Pour in your milk.
  6. Stir everything together until well combined.

Optional (but worth it):
Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate + a sprinkle of toasted coconut if you’re feeling extra.

🍯 Honey Sweet Tea with Herbs

A warm-weather classic with a little homestead twist.

What you’ll need:

  • 2–3 black tea bags
  • 3–4 cups hot water
  • 1–2 tbsp honey (to taste)
  • Fresh herbs (mint or lemon balm)
  • Ice

How to make it:

  1. Steep the tea bags in hot water for about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags and stir in honey while it’s still warm so it dissolves easily.
  3. Add fresh herbs and let them sit for a few minutes to infuse.
  4. Let the tea cool, then pour over ice.

⚡ Simple Homemade Electrolyte Drink

This one is perfect for those extra hot days when you’ve been outside a lot.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1–2 tsp honey
  • A small pinch of salt

How to make it:

  1. Add everything to a glass or jar.
  2. Stir well until the honey dissolves.
  3. Add ice if you’d like it extra cold and enjoy.

Tip: You can double or triple this and keep it in the fridge for the day.

A Little Reminder

You don’t need anything fancy to enjoy the season. Sometimes it’s just about slowing down for a minute, pouring something cold into your favorite glass, and enjoying where you are.

Even if the garden is struggling. Even if things feel a little chaotic.

There’s still something really sweet about this season 🤍
